About Evgeny

Evgeny studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama where his teachers included Peter Katin. He is a prize-winner of many prestigious international piano competitions, including The Leeds International Piano Competition, Prague Spring, Vianna Da Motta, Bremen Competition, Vitols (Latvia) and the Ciurlionis (Lithuania).

In 1997, after completing his studies at the Guildhall, he made his London debut performing Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto with The London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Barbican Hall. Evgeny has since collaborated with many of the world’s leading orchestras, such as the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of London, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony and the Latvian National Symphony.

Evgeny’s recent recording of works by Mussorgsky, released on the Quartz label, has received international acclaim. Gramophone magazine noted: “… here is a pianist with personality who has something individual to say about this music”. His new CD of Tchaikovsky and Scriabin will be released later this year.

As a recitalist and soloist, Evgeny has performed throughout Russia, the UK, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Germany, Italy, USA, Ireland, Switzerland, Macao, Japan, South Africa and Brazil. He has played in many international music festivals, including the City of London Festival, the Prague Spring Festival, Virtuoses Da Musica (Brazil), the Académie Internationale de Musique de Paris, the Festival d'Eté de Musique (Switzerland), the Ramsey Festival (UK) and the Easter Festival (France).

A recent recital at London’s Wigmore Hall received five stars from The Independent which described his playing as “Magical … as though Samoyloff was possessed by Beethoven … [he] employs a brilliant technique to pursue keyboard poetry …”.

Evgeny will be performing at Country Manor Concerts’ first concert.  “It is a complete delight to be able to perform in this magnificent setting and to bring music into such an intimate space. Country Manor Concerts are wonderful to work with and I look forward to participating in their launch concert.”
